Vancouver, BC – The Government of British Columbia has unveiled a comprehensive climate change action plan aimed at reducing carbon emissions by 40% by 2030. The plan, titled “A Path to Net-Zero”, focuses on increasing the use of renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, and promoting sustainable land use practices.
According to the plan, the BC government plans to increase the use of renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric power to 90% of the province’s electricity generation by 2030. Additionally, the plan includes measures to improve energy efficiency in buildings, reduce waste, and promote sustainable transportation options. The government also plans to invest in technologies such as carbon capture and storage, and hydrogen fuel cells to reduce emissions from industry and transportation.
The plan is part of BC’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and is expected to create thousands of new jobs and stimulate economic growth in the clean tech sector. The plan also includes measures to support low-income households and vulnerable communities who may be disproportionately affected by the transition to a low-carbon economy.
