In a shocking incident that sent ripples of fear through the Woodlands neighborhood, a fully charged electric vehicle caught fire in a carpark of a Housing and Development Board (HDB) estate. Eyewitnesses took to social media to share their harrowing accounts of the incident, which took place in the early hours of 21.07.2026.
According to reports, the electric vehicle, a Tesla Model S, was parked on level 3 of Block 123 in Woodlands Avenue 6 when it suddenly erupted in flames around 3:45 am. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with thick black smoke billowing from the vehicle and flames licking at the surrounding parked cars. Authorities were quick to respond, and a team of firemen from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, HDB officials have assured residents that safety measures are in place to prevent similar incidents in the future. The incident has, however, raised concerns about the safety of electric vehicles and the need for enhanced fire safety protocols in public car parks.
