Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for a new medical college in Erode, a major town in the southern Indian state’s western region. The college, which will be built at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore, will have an intake of 150 students per year and will offer undergraduate courses in medicine.
Addressing a gathering of officials, students, and locals, Stalin said that the new medical college will help to improve the state’s healthcare infrastructure and provide quality education to aspiring doctors. He also assured the gathering that the state government will provide all necessary support to the college, including infrastructure and faculty.
The new medical college is part of the state government’s efforts to improve healthcare services in the region. Erode has been identified as a priority area for healthcare development, and the new college is expected to cater to the medical needs of the local population. The project is expected to be completed within the next three years.
